African Travellers and Photographers, A Different Journey
Together, we make a dynamic duo with a shared passion for travel, photography, and adventure. We believe that life is meant to be lived to the fullest and that exploring new places and immersing ourselves in different cultures is the best way to do so.
Our love for travel started at a young age. Both of us grew up in families that valued exploration and adventure. We were fortunate enough to have parents who took us on trips to various destinations, instilling in us a sense of curiosity and wanderlust. As we got older, our desire to see the world only grew stronger.
When we first started GoandBeyond, it was simply a way for us to share our travel experiences with our loved ones. We wanted to document our journeys and showcase the beauty of the places we visited through our photography. Little did we know that our humble journal would grow into something much bigger.
As we traveled through Africa, we realized that there was a lack of information and resources for budget travelers. Many people assume that traveling in Africa is expensive and inaccessible, but we wanted to prove them wrong. We wanted to show that it is possible to have incredible adventures on a budget and that there are hidden gems waiting to be discovered. Not to say that we don’t travel to the more expensive lodges, but we find that there are so many hidden gems to be highlighted, that are off the beaten Path, and destinations that are often been overlooked.
One of the biggest challenges we faced was finding reliable transportation. Public transportation in Africa can be unreliable and inconvenient, especially if you want to explore remote areas. That’s why we decided to invest in our trusty Pink Mobile, a 22-year-old Mitsubishi Pajero that has become our home away from home. We also purchased an Afrispoor 4×4 trailer, which we lovingly refer to as our “off-the-grid oasis.” This has allowed us to venture off the beaten path and discover hidden corners of Africa that few have seen.
But it’s not all about roughing it in the wilderness. We also believe in treating ourselves to luxury accommodations when the opportunity arises. We have been fortunate enough to stay in some of the most luxurious lodges and game reserves in Africa, and we can’t wait to share our experiences with you.
Passion is our driver
Our love for photography has also played a significant role in our travels. We spend hours observing wildlife and capturing their beauty through our lenses. We believe that photography is a powerful tool for storytelling, and we hope that our photos can transport you to the places we’ve been and make you feel like you’re right there with us.
As we continue to explore Africa and beyond, we hope to inspire others to embark on their own adventures. We want to show that travel is not just a luxury reserved for the wealthy, but an enriching experience that can be enjoyed by anyone with a sense of curiosity and a spirit of adventure.

Philippa Logan (Pips or Pippa) Originally from Zimbabwe but has spent the majority of her life in South Africa.
Has studied Fine Art, worked commercially, and co-owned a successful Design Studio.
Kathinka van Hoek (Pink) Originally from the Netherlands but through her love of Africa has spent 27 years in Africa.
She has lived in the Netherlands, France, Nigeria, and currently in South Africa. Kathinka is a talented interior designer and we have to say, a handywoman of note.
